You are looking for the sum of the fractions, and you are given the values of the fractions, although they have different denominators. What you need to do is find a common denominator and add the two fractions together.

You know that –2 < n < 10 and 2 < m < 10. Pick values for n and m to find the minimum and maximum values for the range n - m.

3. 1/4 or .25

Because their sum is less than –6, x and y must be negative integers that fall between –1 and –4.

4. x must be greater or equal to 0 and less than 5.

You are given two different inequalities, so solve each for x to find the acceptable range of values.
