School of Dentistry

Profile:
The University of Minnesota was established in 1851. The School of Dentistry maintains that its mission is to educate dental professionals; discover new knowledge, technology and skills; and to apply those discoveries to the dental profession and the communities it serves. The School of Dentistry is part of the health sciences complex on the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus and its main office is a state-of-the-art setting for research, teaching and practicing dentistry and dental hygiene.

Admissions Requirements:
An overall GPA of 2.5 is the minimum required; however, much higher overall and science GPAs are usually necessary to be considered competitive. Competitive students will take a combination of the following preferred electives: art (3-D drawing or sculpture), cell biology, histology, human anatomy, microbiology, physiology, genetics, immunology and statistics. Preference is given to Minnesota residents and to residents from Manitoba, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin with whom the School of Dentistry has special admission arrangements. Applicants from states other than those named above are also strongly encouraged to apply.
