Are you an all-around athlete who loves competing for fun? Then the University of Texas at Austin has got your game. A lot of game. UT Austin's Intramural Sports Program offers over 100 team, individual, or dual events. Traditional sports such as football, soccer, volleyball, and softball are staples, while sports such as Ultimate disc, sports trivia bowl, and indoor soccer offer non-traditional options. Each year, approximately 23,000 students participate in intramural sports.

Big and Bold as Texas Itself
The University of Texas at Austin originated in 1839, when the Congress of the Republic of Texas ordered a site set aside for a university. Today, UT Austin is one of the largest public institutions in the nation, with almost 50,000 graduate and undergraduate students, and about 20,000 faculty and staff. With more than 90 research units and annual research funding of more than $400 million, the University is one of the leading public research schools in the country. In other words, it's as big, ambitious, and bold as Texas itself.

According to the school's website, UT Austin "is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the people of Texas and the United States. We are the leading provider of education and research with a depth and diversity of resources unmatched by most other public universities."

Honors Programs Are Among the Best Regarded in the U.S.
UT Austin's undergraduate honors programs are among the best regarded in the U.S. Many students in the University's Plan II Honors Program become Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, or Fulbright Scholars. Most academic fields are represented, including liberal arts, business, computer science, engineering, math, and science.

One UT Austin student summed up his feelings this way: 'Because the university's motto is 'What starts here changes the world,' I took this as a sign and decided to come here. You see, I applied to three different schools and was accepted into all of them. However, since the age of 15, I have wanted to change the world in some way, no matter how small. It was truly an intuitive decision."
