Profile:Founded in 1979, the college
operates a rural eye care program that delivers
preventative care and clinical diagnoses to the
Cherokee Nation. Fourth-year students participate
in an eight week, off-campus externship.

Admissions Requirements:As part of a
state-supported, regional university, the College
of Optometry limits admission to residents of nine
states: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas,
Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, and
Texas. 90 semester hours of undergraduate study
with a minimum 2.7 GPA are required. Three letters
of reference, an essay, and a personal interview
are required. Required courses include:
Mathematics (College Algebra
& Trigonometry or Calculus) - 6 semester
hours
General Chemistry I and II
with labs - 8 semester hours
Organic Chemistry I with a
lab - 4 semester hours
Biochemistry - 3 semester
hours
General Biology or Zoology
with a lab - 4 semester hours
Microbiology - 3 semester

It is strongly suggested that students take
