Profile:

In the second year, students conduct rotations through various clinics in the University Optometric Center. Rotations continue through the fourth year, half of which entails off-campus hospitals and other health care facilities as part of the External Clinical Education Program. In addition to an O.D., the school offers M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Vision Science, combined O.D. / M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Vision Science, an M.S. Public Health program, and an affiliate MBA program with Baruch College.

Admissions Requirements:

A minimum of three years (90 semester credits) of undergraduate study is required, but a Bachelor's degree is recommended. Required courses include:

  General Biology with a lab - 1 year
  General Chemistry with a lab - 1 year
  General Physics with a lab - 1 year
  Organic Chemistry with a lab - 1 year
  Calculus - 1 semester
  English Composition & Literature - 1 year
  Social Science - 1 year
  General Psychology - 1 semester
  Statistics - 1 semester

It is strongly suggested that students take additional upper division courses.
