George Washington School of Law

GW Law's proximity to national and international seats of power, including the Supreme Court, is often cited by students and alumni when asked what drew them to the school. Supreme Court justices have traditionally judged the final round of the Van Vleck Constitutional Law Moot Court competition, including Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito in recent years.

GW Law is a leader in numerous fields, including its Government Contracts program, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, and its Environmental Law program, which turns 40 this year. See http://www.law.gwu.edu/Academics/FocusAreas/Pages/Default.aspx for more on our academic programs.

GW Law students enhance their studies in Washington, D.C., by exploring numerous experiential learning opportunities. These include work in the Jacob Burns Community Legal Clinics; GW's Outside Placement Program, through which students work in impressive organizations including the Department of Justice, White House Office of Legal Counsel, and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; and more. For more information on Experiential Learning opportunities, visit http://www.law.gwu.edu/Academics/EL/Pages/Default.aspx.
