ABOUT THE BAR EXAM

Format

Day 1 (Mon.):
Civil Code I (8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.)
Civil Code II (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m)
Civil Code III (2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.)

Day 2 (Wed.):
Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure (8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.)
Torts (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)
Business Entities and Negotiable Instruments (2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.)

Day 3 (Fri.):
Constitutional Law (8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.)
Criminal Law, Procedure & Evidence (10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.)
Federal Jurisdiction & Procedure (2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.)

Subjects

  • Business Entities and Negotiable Instruments
  • Civil Code I
  • Civil Code II
  • Civil Code III
  • Constitutional Law
  • Criminal Law, Procedure and Evidence
  • Federal Jurisdiction and Procedure
  • Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure
  • Torts.
Note that Civil Code I, Civil Code II, Civil Code III, Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure and Torts are considered "Code Examinations." Business Entities and Negotiable Instruments, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Procedure and Evidence, and Federal Jurisdiction and Procedure are considered "Non-Code Examinations." This will pertain to grading.

Grading

A score of 70 or higher on each subject is passing.

You must pass at least 7 (out of the 9 total) separate subject exams, include 4 "Code" exams, to pass. If you do not pass 4 Code exams but pass 7 subject exams, you fail.
