Give MCAT Thanks
November 26, 2013
Hello my thankful readers! Hopefully you will soon be somewhere warm, surrounded by four of my favorite F’s- Family, Friends, Food and Football. At my family’s house, it’s a tradition to go around the table and have everyone say what they’re thankful for.
I’m assuming that for most of you, if you have the same tradition, will not be listing the MCAT as something for which you give thanks. However, I want to give you some reasons that you should be including the MCAT on your list this Thanksgiving.
Reasons to be thankful for the MCAT:
1. It’s the biggest factor you can currently impact on your application. Chances are that at this point, your extracurricular activities, volunteer work and grades are more or less set. The MCAT gives you one more opportunity to shine and stand out on your application.
2. It’s standardized. By it’s nature, the MCAT HAS to be predictable on test day. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be a fair assessment of all applicants. That means that if you prepare well, there should be no surprises walking into your test. That should be reassuring!
3. If you take the MCAT in 2014, you don’t have to take the new Psych/Soc section (you can opt to take it and receive an amazon gift card), you don’t have to do the old Writing section and you don’t have to take the overall longer version of the MCAT that will roll out in 2015. The 2014 MCAT is something that you can definitely be thankful for!
Besides the awesomeness of the MCAT, what will you be thankful for this Thanksgiving?
