How Admissions Consulting Works
- Upon enrollment, the Kaplan
team sends you an introductory survey that
assesses your scores, grades, activities, and potential college
goals. You also receive 101 Ways to Become the Perfect
College Applicant, written by our Consulting team.
- We use the survey data to
carefully match you with the best consultant for
you from our national network.
- You and your consultant then
work together over phone and email to attack
your applications, regardless of your location or hectic
schedule. (In the New York City and Boston metro areas, we also
offer in-person consulting at your home.) You and your
consultant can then:
- Create a
strategy for approaching the college process by
evaluating your high schooler's strengths and level of
competitiveness
- Focus your family's
efforts by researching schools and identifying the
most ideal colleges for your college-bound student,
brainstorming for unique personal statement topics, and
selecting writers for letters of recommendation
- Apply to each school confidently
through critique and refinement of your personal statements
and applications and thorough preparation for interviews
and campus visits
- Like a lawyer or accountant,
our consultants bill for the time they spend working on your
behalf, much of which will be "out of sight." They keep
detailed records of their work for you and update you on the
time remaining in your package.
