The 2007-2008 Kaplan/Newsweek "My Turn" Essay Competition will award ten winners with college scholarships of up to $5,000. What do you need to do? Submit a 500- to 1,000-word personal essay on a topic of your choice.

While your essay should reflect your personal experiences, please keep in mind that we may publish it if your essay is selected as a winner.

First Place wins $5,000
Second Place wins $2,000
Eight more students win $1,000
