A major goal of my admission consulting is to demystify the college admission process. As a former director of admissions, I have firsthand knowledge of how the selection for admission works, and I share that information with all of my clients. What keeps me coming back year after year is sharing in the thrill and exhilaration that most students have when they receive acceptance to college. While many of my clients have been accepted at the Ivies and other competitive schools, I am most proud when clients are excited about their acceptance - whether it's a regional state university or a nationally recognized school. Helping students reach their goals is intensely important to me and I thoroughly enjoy it. I am looking forward to another year where I can assist my clients in achieving their goal of being accepted to a university of their choice. My experience as an admission professional began at Rochester Institute of Technology where I had the opportunity to learn about some very unique programs such as microelectronic engineering, photo science and the fine art of woodworking. I left RIT as Associate Director of Admissions to become Director of Graduate and International Admissions at American University. My education was on a parallel track as I completed a master's degree at Syracuse University in Education and a PhD at University of Maryland, College Park in University Administration; my undergraduate degree is in French from Indiana University in Bloomington. In order for me to remain abreast with changes in the field, I "touch the bricks" at lots of colleges every year. Thus I have first have information about many different campuses. During the past three years alone I visited over 60 colleges in Colorado, Southern California, the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin), upstate New York and Pennsylvania. I a member of the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the primary national association for college admission professionals, and I am a charter member of HECA, the Higher Education Consultant's Association. I attend annual conferences in order to interact with admission professionals, and learn about academic and athletic program changes. |
