Catherine
College Admissions Consultant

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in French/Government from Dartmouth College and my Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration from Boston College with a concentration in counseling. Shortly after graduating from Dartmouth, I began doing alumni interviewing, which sparked my interest in the college admissions process. I took a break from the workforce in 1983 to start a family, but continued to be involved with alumni interviewing. The process fascinated me, and I have been developing my admissions expertise for over twenty years. I understand this process as an admission professional, as a parent, and from the student's perspective.

My career has involved work in human resources administration at Revlon, Inc. and in the educational services field at Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, where I have worked as a manager of pre-college programs since 1999. In my job, I work with secondary school administrators and with students and their parents in the college search. Concurrently, I consult for Kaplan as a college admissions advisor. My blend of work experience has prepared me to advise students and families within the broad context of making school choices that will allow a student to pursue his/her passion in school and in life. My client students and families appreciate my acute listening skills, my candor, my ability to see possibilities in young people, my attention to detail, and my in-depth understanding of the college admissions process, including all of the intricacies of standardized testing.

Why do I love my work? Simply put, I can reduce the stress that often accompanies the college admission process and replace it with a methodical, informed, and frequently fun journey for both student and parent. My client students have been accepted to the Ivies, to top-tier liberal arts colleges, as well as to large and small state universities. It is all about fit!

Apart from my work experience, I have enjoyed doing volunteer work in my community, at church, and in the schools always working with children and adolescents in programs that empower young people. I have also helped guide my own children in their college search with very positive results.

True New Englanders, my family and I live in the suburbs of Boston.
