Janani Krishnaswami obtained her M.D. at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, where she was named a Dean's Scholar and received a four-year, full-tuition merit scholarship. She was recently accepted in 2008 into her #1 residency proram in San Francisco, California (a combined internal medicine/preventive medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Health Systems and University of California - San Francisco). At University of Michigan, she served multiple years as a dedicated and involved member of the medical school admissions committee. Based on her dedication to admissions work, she was selected to act as a voting member on the executive admissions committee. Janani has carefully evaluated the applications of and personally interviewed over 100 candidates from a variety of undergraduate schools, gaining specific insight into the winning components of medical school applications. Her particular strengths are in the area of test preparation, essay writing and interview skills, where her expertise in helping students express their voice with polish, clarity and poise has already won her acclaim and praise from former students. In addition, she is well-versed in helping non-traditional students create winning applications, having herself traversed the application process as a non-traditional applicant. Janani completed her undergraduate training in economics, public policy and international studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and the London School of Economics, where her education was fully funded by the merit-based President's Scholarship. Before entering medical school, she worked as an investment banker and analyst in New York City. She was accepted to several top-tier medical schools with over $200,000 in scholarship funding. Janani is also an avid writer and has worked as a Kaplan MCAT teacher and tutor, with over 9 years' experience reviewing essays, tutoring and mentoring students of a variety of backgrounds. |
