College Admissions Consultant

A wise man once said, "If you find a job that you love, you'll never work a day in your life." Well, that's how I feel about what I do as a college consultant. I enjoy sharing my expertise and enthusiasm with Kaplan clients and their families as I guide them through each step of the often intimidating college application/admission process. I take a personal interest in each student with whom I work, and I strive to make this experience pleasant, productive and as stress-free as possible!

I bring to college admission consulting a strong educational background as well as an ideal combination of 25+ years of relevant experience. I graduated as an English major from Fordham University and completed graduate certification programs in Counseling and Student Personnel Services at Hunter College and William Paterson University. I taught high school English in New York City and in New Jersey. For 12 years, I was employed as the senior guidance counselor at a college prep high school in northern New Jersey. For the last two years, I have been an independent college consultant. I am also an application evaluator for Drew University in New Jersey.

I have worked extensively with students, parents, and college representatives on all aspects of college admissions. I have conducted writing workshops for students and teachers and have been an essay grader for major testing companies. I keep my "college knowledge" current by participating in college-sponsored counselor tours of campuses throughout the United States. It is important for me, as a Kaplan consultant, to learn the goals and priorities of my clients so that I can address their specific needs. In general, I research and recommend appropriate college considerations, provide organizational and time-management skills, set and enforce deadlines, critique, edit, advise, comfort, encourage, discourage, nag, etc. In short, I do whatever it takes to ensure that all areas of the college application process are completed well in advance of deadlines and that each application is representative of the student's best efforts.

I am an active member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the New Jersey Counselors' Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English.
