During my sixth year reading applications for Williams College I experienced an "aha" moment. I began noticing the applications from students who seemed to have had little or no college counseling, and I frequently had the urge to give feedback to students on ways to improve their applications. I cared so much about the students who might have fared better in the process that I wasn't content to let it go. It was clearly time for me to make a move into college admission consulting. Another significant influence on my new career choice was the experience of my twins applying for admission to the class of 2009. The process was so daunting that I can't even imagine what it must be like for everyone who doesn't have an insider view. My son and I had so many issues that I even sent him to an independent counselor! My recent "double immersion" in college admissions has given me a valuable perspective. I really do know what it's like to go through this process, and I aspire to provide powerful support to families by sharing my experiences. My daughter is now at Tufts and my son at Northwestern. I have spent a lifetime working and volunteering in educational settings at every level from preschool through postgraduate medicine. My graduate degrees in education and library science reflect my lifelong passion for learning, literature, and students. Reading college applications has been an enriching and enjoyable experience—a privileged glimpse into the lives of so many fine young people. Every student has a great story to tell. I look forward to helping students reveal their unique stories in a compelling way, and I am committed to helping students achieve their college admission goals. |
