Keith
Business Admissions Consultant
Keith never thought he would serve as a Kaplan admissions consultant. When he applied to business school in 2000, he did so without doing much research into developing a cohesive application strategy. However, Keith was a marketer and a capable writer, and he gained admission to the business school in which he was most interested: Columbia. It was only after Keith began his studies there that he realized how much planning others had undergone in creating their applications and that, perhaps, his skill set made him naturally adept at developing and executing a sound business school application plan. This notion would be reinforced when, roughly 18 months after graduating from Columbia, Keith joined the Columbia Business School admissions office in a short-term marketing capacity. That brief stint led to a nine month period as an admissions officer during which he reviewed hundreds of applications, led application workshops, and provided candidate feedback and counseling. Keith had a couple of significant realizations during that time. The first was that, in the highly competitive world of MBA admissions, the quality of an application can be just as important as the quality of the applicant. The second was that many of the things he had done during his application period were the rights ones, whether he knew it at the time or not. As a Kaplan admissions consultant, Keith is eager to share his experiences and expertise. He knows the mentality of admissions officers and what can make or break a business school application. Keith has a B.A. in English from Tulane University in New Orleans, where he graduated magna cum laude, so he takes pride in helping applicants communicate effectively and concisely in their essays. Most of all, as someone who applied to business school pretty recently, he has a tremendous amount of empathy for those going through what can be a very stressful process! He also has a professional background in entertainment, marketing, brand management, and entrepreneurship. He grew up in Louisiana but has happily lived in New York for almost six years. |
