With nearly 15 years of college admission counseling experience, I want to help any family with this exciting and fun, but difficult and confusing process. My past experience has included work on both the college and high school sides, and I have worked for the Kaplan Admissions Consulting program for over three years.
My college admissions experience has included working at three different institutions. I have worked for two mid-sized state universities and also at a highly selective liberal arts college. Having experience with different types of schools, enables me to understand how applications will be read at different schools. Through this work, I read thousands of applications, interviewed hundreds of students and visited hundreds of high schools to talk with prospective students.
On the high school side, I worked as a director of college counseling at an independent, college preparatory day school. Here I helped students with the entire process including: testing strategies, developing an appropriate list, working on essays, making a final selection, conducting mock interviews, applying for scholarships, and understanding the financial aid process. My students attended a wide range of schools from Ivy League schools to community colleges. The goal was always to find the college that was the best fit for the student.
It is my belief that education is crucial. My entire career has been dedicated to helping students pursue higher education. My degrees have also revolved around education. As an undergraduate at Dickinson College I was a psychology major and earned a teaching certificate. I earned a master's degree in counseling and college student personnel from The College of Saint Rose.
Choosing the right college is like shopping for shoes. You have to try on several pairs to find the right fit. I love working with students and families to help them find the right fit.
