Marc
Pre-Med Admissions Consultant

The world of medical school admissions can be a beleaguering, challenging and mysterious place. Marc has been through the process and knows how tough it can be. He applied to medical school in 1995 during one of the all time peaks in medical school admissions. He recalls one interview at a highly ranked medical school was blown because he did not do the correct preparation. Marc was very confident going into the interview; however, the interviewer asked some basic questions which he did not answer well. This problem could have been easily avoidable had he sought the advise of consultant before hand.

While Marc was a medical student at UCLA he began to help others who were applying because he knew how difficult the process of admissions was. Later, he was selected to serve as a voting member for the UCLA School of Medicine Admissions Committee. He served on the admissions committee for 3 years and gained first hand experience on what the admissions committees are looking for, and has observed many simple mistakes applicants made which killed their applications.

The personal statement can be a very powerful part of your application or it can really sink you. Some medical schools actually assign a score to the personal statement and use this score together with the MCAT and GPA. Over the last 11 years in helping applicants and serving on the admissions committee, Marc has read hundreds of personal statements and knows how to help those struggling to write theirs. When helping someone write a personal statement he will usually look at their resume and talk to them to find out why they have chosen medical school. He then gives suggestions to translate these ideas into written words and continue to work until the essay is polished.

When helping someone applying for medical school the following topics are covered:

  1. Advise on letters of recommendations
  2. MCAT planning (if applicable)
  3. Resume editing
  4. Choosing last minute volunteer activities
  5. Personal Statement from conception to completion
  6. Activities section
  7. Selecting schools
  8. Secondary applications
  9. Interview preparation
  10. Mock interview
  11. Other strategies to get you noticed

Marc thoroughly enjoys helping others with the difficult process of medical school admissions because he knows how difficult it can be. He has helped others gain acceptance from the top ranked programs in the country to osteopathic schools and international medical schools. He has also helped students while they were in undergraduate or those who have graduated 12 years before. His work also includes helping international students who were applying for United States medical schools.
