Meryl graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in Psychology. After working in a variety of human services settings, she returned to the University of Rhode Island and completed an M.Ed. in Counseling. She worked in the employment program of an anti-poverty agency for two years and then moved on to work in a university setting.
Meryl's first job in higher education was in the Hiatt Career Center at Brandeis University and had been with the Career Center for over 15 years. She met with several hundred students and alumni to work on graduate school applications in fields such as law school, psychology, social work, education, the sciences, and business.
She served as the primary pre-law advisor for several years. In that capacity, Meryl spoke with many admissions officers and law school faculty. She's also visited many law schools to gain a sense of the culture and environment at each school. She has guided and helped students and alumni through the application process to secure admission to many highly competitive law schools, such as Harvard, Yale, NYU, Columbia, and the University of Chicago.
This background has been particularly helpful as a Kaplan admissions consultant. After seven years as the director of career services at Brandeis University, Meryl joined Kaplan as an admissions consultant in 2004. She also joined Harvard University in 2005 and now serves as the director of career services at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
