College Admissions Consultant

Passion, a breath of fresh air, a way of leaving a mark on the world. This is what I am fortunate to experience each day as I gently guide students and parents down the bumpy and winding road of college admissions. It is indeed a journey I look forward to each year because I know of its rewards! Helping students find their ideal college match and witnessing their transformation during that process is a truly remarkable experience. Over the years, I have shared my students' joy as they have been admitted into Stanford University, Georgetown University, New York University (NYU), Cornell University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Syracuse University, Wheaton College, and University of Connecticut, to name just a few.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I have developed a sound understanding of the New York State school system. Although I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at NYU, it was my undergraduate career in student services that ultimately led to my pursuit of higher education. I later earned my Master's degree in Higher Education Administration at NYU where I had the opportunity to study higher education and social reform in South Africa. There, amongst other things, I was able to converse with a diverse group of educators and administrators about policies and practices in education, both in that country and here in the United States.

In my over 6 years of admissions experience, I have met over 8,000 students through applications and guided over 500 students through the college admissions process. As Assistant Director of Admissions at New York University, I was able to travel throughout New York City, the tri-state area and other states to recruit for the university, reside on special opportunity and scholarship committees and make admissions decisions on prospective students. For the past two years I have served as a Director of College Counseling at a High School in New York City. My past academic and professional experiences have equated to great success for the students with whom I counsel and consult.

I have learned that a large part of college counseling is about making connections and staying abreast with the changing world of higher education. I remain very active in professional organizations that service students and their families. I have been a member of the New York State Association for College Admissions Counseling (NYSACAC) where I have served as a Conference Presenter, Workshop Moderator and Planning Committee member. Currently, I am serving as a Summer Institute Mentor where my responsibilities include training new high school and college admissions counselors.

My love and passion for working with students is also evident in how I donate my time. I have volunteered with various non-profit organizations such as Grand Street Settlement and Publicolor. I have served as a mentor for Camp College, a program that places disadvantaged students on college campuses throughout the summer to prepare and motivate them for the college process and experience. Periodically, I have the joy of meeting groups of students to discuss topics regarding the college admissions process, including essay writing and interview skills and I am also well versed in the financial aid process.
