AI have worked with Kaplan for over 2 years, and have been in the college admissions profession for 3 years. College Admissions Counseling is a second career for me. I spent nearly 20 years in the financial services industry, mostly managing large technology projects. I was a Vice President at Wells Fargo Bank and a Director of Technical Product Development for Charles Schwab. I longed for something more personally rewarding, with an opportunity to work with young people, and I have found it doing consulting. The parents I work with tell me that they appreciate my sense of humor, attentiveness, and balanced perspective in going through the process. The students tell me that they appreciate my encouraging them to be themselves when writing their college essays. Many students report that they felt more in control of the process, and less nagged than expected. Students I have worked with have been accepted to a variety of colleges and universities, including University of Southern California, Colgate, every University of California campus (Berkeley, UCLA, etc.), Cal Poly, University of Colorado, Boulder, University of Washington, Santa Clara, St. John's (MD), American University, New York University (NYU), Purdue, University of Puget Sound, and Loyola Marymount. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and graduated with a double major in Economics and Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I then moved to Texas, where I completed my MBA at the University of Texas at Austin. My early career was spent in Texas. 21 years ago I moved to San Francisco, and live there still with my husband and two sons. My professional association memberships include the National Assoc. of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), Western Assoc. of College Admissions Counselors (WACAC), and the Higher Education Consulting Association. (HECA). |
