John Brockman

Taking time off before his fourth year of medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, John Brockman is privileged to serve as the 60th National President of the American Medical Student Association. An Omaha, Nebraska native, John graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri Phi Beta Kappa where he studied biology and business administration. While at Truman, he led one of the largest premedical AMSA chapters organizing events around World AIDS Day, S-CHIP reauthorization, covering the uninsured, and developing student leaders. Within AMSA, he has served as premedical trustee organizing the first Premedical Leadership Institute, Secretary of the board of trustees, and, most recently, Vice President of Internal Affairs.

During his term as National President, John looks forward to lobbying on Capitol Hill, being an advocate for quality and patient safety, and building the leadership skills of his fellow member-leaders. John is an avid runner and traveler, and when not studying or working with AMSA, can be found cheering for his favorite sports teams (Go Huskers!). A future urologist, he hopes to also complete a master's degree in public policy. Upon graduating, he hopes to both practice and teach while remaining active in policy work.
