OUR INSTRUCTORS

Meet the Prep Squad

We know that amazing teaching is about more than knowing the material. Our teachers are committed, captivating instructors who work with students to find their best path to success.

Only the best

Fewer than 1 out of 10 candidates qualify to teach for us, and every one of our teachers scored above the 90th percentile on the ACT. That makes Kaplan more selective than many top universities.

And every Kaplan teacher is rated on how caring they are with students. It’s how we ensure our students aren’t just getting an information download – they’re making a connection.

SESSION OVERVIEW

What to Expect

Here’s what a typical classroom course looks like from start to finish. Each session builds off the next, and the proctored practice tests are sure to help you feel calm and confident come test day.

Diagnostic Practice Test

The best way to get familiar with the test experience is through a live, proctored ACT. Bring your practice test book, pencils, and a graphing or scientific calculator.

You will take a full length practice test to assess your current performance, strengths, and weaknesses. With Kaplan's Mobile scoring tool, you'll get your score instantly after the test.

Afterward, log into your account on Kaptest.com to find customized study recommendations based on how you performed on the diagnostic test.

Kaplan Methods for Math, Reading, and English

Success on the ACT comes with sound strategy, confidence, and focused practice. In this first instructional session, you'll learn the Kaplan Method for Math, the Kaplan Method for Reading, and the Kaplan Method for English, refined strategic tools that will boost your confidence and enable you to complete practice questions and passages more effectively.

The Kaplan Method for Math will aid you with every question on the ACT Math test. You'll begin by applying it to questions on essential math skills.

Next, you'll learn to apply the Kaplan Method for Reading to read critically, create passages maps, and confidently predict and match correct answers in the Reading test. You'll practice this method first with Global and Inference questions.

In the last module of this session, you'll use the Kaplan Method for English to tackle questions on sentence structure and sentence formation.

Number and Quantity, Data Representation, and Punctuation

You'll start this session by applying the Kaplan Method for Math to questions on number and quantity.

You'll also be introduced to the Kaplan Method for Data Representation, which will help you ace the ACT Science test. Learn how to work effectively with Science passages that feature extensive data in graphs, tables, and other figures.

Finally, you'll apply the Kaplan Method for English to tricky punctuation questions.

Paired Passages, Conflicting Viewpoints, Algebra, and Usage

In this session, you'll learn how to tackle the required sections of the ACT. Beginning with Reading, you'll learn to crack paired passages and the questions that accompany them with the Kaplan Method for Paired Passages.

In Science, you'll learn another strategy, the Kaplan Method for Conflicting Viewpoints, so you can expertly handle passages that feature the views of multiple scientists and to efficiently answer the questions that accompany them.

Next, you'll continue applying the Kaplan Method for Math, this time to a wide variety of algebra topics.

The session concludes with usage questions in the ACT English test.

Your performance on this test will further customize study recommendations to help you succeed in the final stretch of your test prep. Use these recommendations to refine your practice, so you can prepare for Test Day with confidence!

Research Summaries, Geometry, and Writing

The first half of this session introduces the third and final strategy that you'll learn for ACT Science: the Kaplan Method for Research Summaries.
