The results from the 2011 Medical School Admissions Officer survey have now been tabulated. We wanted you to be the first to see some of the highlights of the report that may impact you and your students:
The MCAT was rated as the most important admissions factor by 43% of respondents, higher than any other factor. Undergraduate GPA was next on the list at 28%. · 70% of those surveyed stated that they were in favor of the changes proposed by the MR5 committee, with nearly ¾ reporting that they feel the new MCAT will better prepare students for medical school.
However, 67% of those surveyed also suggested that pre-med programs will need to revise their curricula in order to sufficiently prepare students for the new exam; just over half of that group felt that there was sufficient time to do so.
