Every workplace has its “thing”, right? Maybe it’s an overly-complicated computer system; an impossible-to-keep-track-off org chart; or as chronicled in one-too-many sitcoms, the constant occurrence of surprise birthday parties that never really are actually a surprise. Ours? It’s acronyms. Everything, I mean everything, just has to have an acronym. We refer to ourselves as KTP (“Kaplan Test Prep”); ACE is our “Absolute Commitment to Excellence”; KTDP is our “Kaplan Teacher Development Program”; CBT is a “Computer-Based Test”; CAT is a “Computer Adaptive Test”; NPT is our “National Practice Test” campaign; HSG is our “Higher Score Guarantee”… and it goes on and on and on and on. And testing agencies like ETS and LSAC don’t do us any favors either with their GREs & LSATs!
But around these parts, one acronym stands head-and-shoulders above the rest: BTS. Back. To. School. It’s an exciting, frenzied time of year when we deploy our teams of test experts to hundreds of college and university campuses all across the country, talking to – quite literally – tens of thousands of students who are interested in pursuing graduate school and needing to take standardized entrance exams. Additionally (as many of you know), we reach out to you – pre-law advisors – to see how we can best partner with you on your campuses. Oh, and make no mistake about it – those tens of thousands of students we speak too? We don’t miss an opportunity to tell them to stop in and speak to their pre-law advisor(s).
On that note, I sincerely want to thank you. Since last fall’s launch of the “PLAN” – our Pre Law Advisor Newsletter (see?) – over 500 of you and your colleagues have registered to receive our monthly updates about all the ongoings at Kaplan and in the world of pre-law admissions. This new blog, our new home – no, your new home – is PLAN’s natural evolution; it’s just slightly more contemporary and with a whole lot more regular content – always accessible at your fingertips or at the click of a mouse.
At Kaplan, we share your mission of providing the most relevant, up-to-date, accurate information to prospective law students – particularly in these volatile times. This blog is going to help us both do just that. Perhaps this’ll be the number one “Blog To Subscribe” to… or…BTS. Get it?
Hey – can’t blame a guy for tryin’, right?
I’ll see you here soon, but until then, feel free to post questions or comment below if you have any!
