Last week, several members of the Kaplan MCAT team and I sat down to discuss our institutional partnerships and the types of support that we offer for these special programs. Our aim was to better understand the needs of administrators, advisors, and students for whom we run dedicated MCAT classes, and after speaking with several of our existing partners throughout the week we’re thrilled to be making institutional programming a priority in 2014 and beyond.
There are several benefits to formalized institutional partnerships, not the least of which is specialty pricing options based on the needs and resources of the program in question. Perhaps more importantly, however, is the option to tailor a program to the unique requirements of your student population to ensure that they’re receiving efficient prep that maximizes their investment in their studies. For example, we’ve found that some programs catering to first-generation college students require additional instruction in foundational science concepts before true test preparation can begin; conversely programs for honors students may need to focus less on science instruction and more on the test-taking skills and stress management techniques that are important to MCAT success.
We’ve always striven to allow students to customize their MCAT experience – currently students can select from a variety of delivery channels that suit their needs, and our Smart Reports adaptive learning technology helps identify crucial areas of strength and weakness. However, we’re excited about the opportunity to construct classes that cater to the specific needs of a cohort of students, and that are supported by an institutional framework that ties into their everyday pre-medical experience.
