As we look forward to March and the return of spring, we also look forward to the return of Kaplan’s popular Graduate School Spotlight series of events. March’s focus will be on pharmacy school, and we are very fortunate to be joined by Jennifer Athay of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy as the guest speaker for this event. As Director of Student Affairs for the AACP, Dr. Athay is uniquely positioned to speak about the PharmCAS application and the role that professionalism plays in the admissions process. We know that many of our fellow advisors have found these Spotlight events both useful and informative, and we hope that you and your students will join us for this engaging discussion to be held online in our Classroom Anywhere environment.
MCAT Summer Testing Dates are now open! Earlier this month the AAMC opened registration for all MCAT test dates for the second half of the year. While we know that most students take the exam sometime during the April/May window of testing, we also know that the June 21st administration of the exam will be very popular among students- despite the fact that the AMCAS application opens for submission in early June. We often see students who choose the June test date because it allows them to complete their spring courses and get through finals before focusing on the final phases of their MCAT prep, and while there are certainly advantages and disadvantages to this approach, one thing is for certain – seats for the June 21st administration are going to fill up fast! To encourage students to register for a test date soon and commit to their MCAT study plan, we’ve created a special promotion that runs throughout the month of February: any student who enrolls in a comprehensive Kaplan MCAT course by February 29th will be eligible for a $240 rebate to cover the cost of their official MCAT registration fee.
Building a Professional Application: Tuesday, March 13th , 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT: Practice Tests, Preview Classes, and more Speaking of free events, February and March also mark the time of year that we run live practice tests and sample Kaplan classes throughout the country. These events are a great opportunity for your students to learn more about the various exams that they’ll encounter on their way to graduate school, as well as the Kaplan courses that can help them get there. Of course, we run many additional events beyond the typical practice test or sample class experience, so if you’d like to set up an On Site event on your campus please let us know and we’ll be happy to help out. In addition to the above events, we want to remind you that March 8th-11th will see the American Medical Student Association National Convention taking place in Houston. The weekend’s excellent line up of programming – that includes a keynote address by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius – will be beneficial for any premed student. The Kaplan team will also be on hand as the official premed programming provider of AMSA, speaking with students about the MCAT and medical school admissions.ase remind your students. Students can enroll by visiting our website at www.kaptest.com/mcatrebate, or by calling us at 1-800-KAP-TEST.
As always, we appreciate any suggestions or feedback you might have – feel free to post it here.
