Conventionally Kaplan

With the school year in full swing and the leaves taking on fall colors, a large number of state Student Nursing Associations hold their annual statewide conventions.  This year, we are pleased to highlight three stellar SNA events held in Arkansas, Kansas, and Georgia, at which Kaplan representatives attended and met many outstanding future nurses!

Arkansas Nursing Student Association – 1,100+ Nursing Students take over the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock!

There was standing room only at many of the break-out sessions, and in some instances extra chairs had to be brought in to allow for maximum attendance. Topics discussed at this year’s ANSA convention seminars included Nurse Anesthesia, Disaster Nursing, and Working in the ICU.  Additionally, Kaplan Nursing held a 4-hour Mini-NCLEX Review taught by Susan Gatto, PhD, RN, CNE.   It’s no wonder that with awesome presentations like this Arkansas’ state SNA chapter is one of the largest in the country!

Kansas Nursing Student Association – Qbank Challenge

There was a capacity crowd at the Kansas SNA convention, thanks in large part to over 350 pre-registered attendees and the opportunity for nursing students to participate in Kaplan’s Qbank Challenge!  Those students who visited the Kaplan Nursing table met Sean Nickell, Health Programs Manager for Kansas, Nebraska, and W. Missouri, and those who dared could enter our Qbank Challenge.  Students took a five-question, randomized quiz from Kaplan’s NCLEX-RN Qbank. Those who answered four out of five questions correctly received their choice of a study aid, and the lucky winners who answered five out of five correctly won a free Kaplan NCLEX-RN Review!

Georgia Association of Nursing Students (GANS) Annual Convention – This year’s GANS  Convention was held in Atlanta on Friday and Saturday, October 19-20, 2012, and was by far one of the greatest turnouts of GA nursing students over the past several years.  Kaplan representatives, Triba Gary-Davis and Dawnelle Smith, attended the conference which had over 500 students pre-registered.  Many GANS attendees indicated that they were interested in having Triba and Kaplan Nursing host either a free information session, a critical thinking event, and/or NCLEX review on their campus!  Students were also very excited to register for our Prescription for Success event on 11/19/12, because they can participate anywhere they have internet access as the free event is happening in our Classroom Anywhere™ learning environment.  The convention ended on Saturday with a Kaplan NCLEX-RN® practice test which was held as a fundraiser for the SNA.  Over 100 students paid a pre-registration fee for the test, and it was one of the most popular break-out sessions at GANS 2012.

California Nursing Student Association – The CNSA conference was held October 19th and 20th in Irvine.  With over 600 registrants, this was the most well-attended conference in the last few years.  Kaplan held 2 events:  the 4-hour mini review on the 19th and a test-taking strategy break-out session on the 20th, both presented by our all-star faculty member, Roberta Harbison.  Kaplan was the talk of the conference, and we had a consistent line at our booth of over 15 people deep at all times.
