Get one-on-one guidance throughout your prep, including a personalized study plan and residency timeline.

Prep is not one-size-fits-all, and navigating your preparation progress is a core priority with our In Center course. Kaplan Medical Advisors are integral in guiding you as you prep within our student testing labs. You will regularly meet with your medical advisor to monitor academic progress and develop a unique path to success. Advisors will create an optimal study plan, assess strengths and weaknesses, and provide guidance as you prepare for the USMLE exams.

Dedicated Student Testing Labs

Enjoy comfortable, convenient testing labs with fast internet and support from your medical advisor.

Bring your study plan to life by working through assigned practice questions and assessments in our student testing labs. During your advisor meetings, you will receive a step-by-step plan on how you should be utilizing your time in our labs. Testing labs include fast and reliable wifi, a quiet place to study and full support from our staff.

I20 Eligible Facility

You are welcome to study in New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, and Houston.

Welcome! Kaplan is authorized to issue qualified international medical students who meet the criteria an F-1 I-20 to study in the US for the USMLE exams. You are required to be physically present for study in the Kaplan Center, and your MedAdvisor will monitor your progress. Weekly Advancement Workshops

Facilitated, study phase based sessions, focused on managing study plans and the licensure process.

Learn and practice skills and attitudes to achieve the best licensure score possible with weekly one-hour discussion-based sessions for all In Center students.

The overall course objectives are for students to actively advance. The sessions fall into three broad categories:

  • Licensure Progress
  • Study Progress
  • Personal Progress

Critical Thinking Sessions

Facilitated, team-based sessions focused on applying knowledge to problem solving.

Participate in weekly, two-hour small group-based interactive and engaging sessions with a focus on problem-solving and critical thinking.

  • These sessions are divided into a pre-clinical (for those preparing for Step 1) and a clinical emphasis (for those preparing for Step 2 CK or Step 3).
  • High-yield and highly tested disease states are discussed and examined as facilitators guide students to engage each other in a qualitative analysis of board-style questions.
  • Students gain insight to the integrated complexity of USMLE® questions and collectively develop approaches to effective problem-solving while strengthening their grasp and improving their understanding of the content.
