You spoke, we listened. Our brand new OAT course is designed using feedback from students just like you. You’ll get everything you need to succeed on test day, all in one place. We put our test expertise to work for you, so you get more points, in less time. Learn with the structure and support of live online classroom sessions led by your OAT instructor and mentor who will be there for you every step of the way.
The OAT is going to test you on 2 years of undergraduate science work in just 90 minutes. The test will also challenge you with reading comprehension and math. Review the essential OAT content you need, and learn how to strategically answer every type of question you’ll see on test day.
Preoptometry students aren’t all the same. Your practice shouldn’t be, either. Get ready for everything the OAT brings your way with customizable quizzes in Qbank, topicspecific quizzes, and plenty of fulllength practice. Busy schedule? Your prep course goes everywhere you do with the Kaplan Mobile Prep app.
SESSION OVERVIEW
What to expect
Here’s what a typical classroom course looks like from start to finish. Each session builds off the next, and the practice tests are sure to help you feel calm and confident come test day.

Strategy & Reading I
Test Strategies, Reading Comprehension
After this session you will be able to describe the sections of the OAT and their scoring systems; formulate a personal study calendar that includes all the necessary actions from now until Test Day; and recall the steps of Kaplan's question, answer choice, and CBT strategies. You will also be able to recall Kaplan's strategies for reading strategically and classifying reading comprehension question types.

Biology I
Diversity of Life, Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior
After this session you will be able to differentiate between the taxonomy kingdoms; describe the parts of a cell, including their origins and functions; explain the processes of replication, transcription, and translation; calculate individual and population genetics; and describe relationships among different organisms and environments.

Physics I
Units and Vectors, Linear Kinematics, Force Statics and Dynamics, Rotational Motion, Energy and Momentum
After this session you will be able to recall the SI units for commonly used variables; complete calculations involving velocity, acceleration, time, force, energy, and momentum; differentiate among different thermodynamic processes; and determine the properties of static fluids.

Quantitative I
Quantitative Strategies, Numerical Calculations, Conversions, Algebra
After this session you will be able to identify opportunities to apply Traditional Math, Picking Numbers, Backsolving, Educated Guessing, and Estimation to math problems; calculate numerical problems involving fractions, decimals, exponents, and absolute values; calculate algebra problems using equations and inequalities; and analyze the properties of graphs and figures.

General Chemistry I
Atomic and Molecular Structure, Periodic Properties, Stoichiometry, Thermochemistry, Equilibria, Kinetics
After this session you will be able to differentiate between the different types of intramolecular and intermolecular bonds; predict properties based on those bonds and the periodic table; calculate stoichiometric values and balanced chemical equations; calculate energies based on thermodynamics; calculate properties of systems at equilibrium; and determine chemical rate laws.

Organic Chemistry I
Nomenclature, Stereochemistry, Mechanisms (Substitution, Elimination, Addition)
After this session you will be able to assign names to molecules; differentiate among different types of isomers; identify types of substitution, elimination, and addition reactions; and describe the properties of those reactions.

Physics II
Simple Harmonic Motion, Waves, Fluid Statics, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics and Magnetism, D.C. Circuits, Optics and Modern Physics
After this session you will be able to calculate forces and frequencies associated with periodic motion; determine the properties of specific waves, including light; calculate focal point, object distance, and magnification of lenses and mirrors; calculate energy, charge, and direction for electromagnetic systems, and describe the properties of circuits.

Biology II
Anatomy and Physiology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology
After this session you will be able to recall the structures and functions of the digestive, circulatory, respiratory, musculoskeletal, nervous, endocrine, urinary, integumentary, immunological, and reproductive systems; describe the steps of mitosis and meiosis; and describe the stages of embryonic development.

Quantitative II
Conversions, Probability and Statistics, Geometry, Trigonometry
After this session you will be able to calculate conversions; calculate averages, variance, and standard deviation; calculate probabilities; analyze geometric shapes; and calculate trigonometric relationships.

General Chemistry II
Liquids and Solids, Gases, Solutions, Acids and Bases, OxidationReduction Reactions, Nuclear Reactions
After this session you will be able to calculate the energy involved in changing temperature and phase of matter; calculate the properties of gases using the ideal gas law; calculate the general and colligative properties of solutions; calculate pH and dissociation constant values for acids and bases; determine oxidizing and reducing numbers; calculate the energies associated with electrochemical cells; and determine the products of radioactive decay.

Organic Chemistry II
Aromatics and Bonding, Organic Chemistry Reactions, AcidBase Chemistry, Properties of Molecules and Organic Analysis
After this session you will be able to determine aromaticity; describe the properties of and predict the products of reactions involving aromatics, alcohols, ethers, carbonyls, and carboyxlic acid derivatives; identify specific named chemical reactions; determine the relative strengths of acids and bases; interpret results from IR and NMR spectroscopy; and evaluate the separation methods of extraction and distillation.

Strategy & Reading II
Reading Comprehension, Test Strategies
After this session you will be able to apply the strategies you have already learned to any question on your exam. You will also be able to plan your study calendar appropriately so you know what to do from now until Test Day.
