Zoom Setup Guide

Setting up Zoom to attend a live session is easy.

FOR ZOOM WEBINAR (CLASSES):

Step 1: Supported Operating Systems & Web Browsers

Operating Systems

  • WINDOWS 7+
  • macOS 10.11+
  • iOs 8.0+
  • iPadOS 13+
  • Android 5.0x+

Desktop Browsers

  • Chrome: Within 2 versions of current version
  • Firefox: Within 2 versions of current version
  • Edge: Within 2 versions of current version
  • Safari: Within 2 versions of current version

Mobile Browsers

(Note: Not all features/functions of Zoom are supported on mobile; Mobile is supported, but not recommended, for Kaplan classes.)

  • Safari: Within 2 versions of current version
  • Chrome: Within 2 versions of current version
  • Firefox: Within 2 versions of current version

Step 2: Bandwidth Requirements

  • 1.2+ Mbps (down)

FOR ZOOM MEETINGS (TUTORING):

Step 1: Supported Operating Systems

  • WINDOWS 7+
  • MACOS 10.11+

Check your Windows or Mac version

Step 2: Bandwidth Requirements

  • 1.2+ Mbps (down)

Test your download speed.

Step 3: Download Zoom

If you cannot download or run Zoom, try joining through your web browser by clicking on the "Join from your browser" link.

Step 4: Configure Your Audio & Video Settings

After joining the Zoom test room, the Audio Setup will automatically begin.

Audio

  • Follow the steps within the Audio Setup to configure your Speakers and Microphone
  • Recommended: Select ‘Computer Audio’ and ‘Join Audio by Computer’

You may also join the event with your phone. Your call may be subject to additional charges.

Video

  • Press ‘Start Video’, located in the lower-left corner of your Zoom window to enable your video.

If you were able to set up your audio & video, you’re ready to join your online session!

Frequently Asked Questions/FAQs

No worries! Your Instructor has not joined the session yet. If the Instructor is running late or you are still unable to join the session, please reach out to us by visiting kaptest.com/contact-us.

Locate the “Join Audio” button in the lower-left corner of your Zoom session. If you haven’t tested your speakers and microphone, select “Test speaker and microphone”. Otherwise, click “Join with Computer Audio”.

Click the “Start Video” button in the lower-left corner of your Zoom session. If you encounter an issue, click the upward caret next to the camera icon near the bottom left corner of your screen (Stop Video / Start Video). Make sure that your computer’s camera is selected.
