What is the NCLEX?
The NCLEX, or National Council Licensure Examination, is a standardized exam nursing school graduates must pass to earn licensure. All U.S. nursing boards use the NCLEX for licensure for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The current version of the NCLEX places increased emphasis on nursing candidates' abilities to apply clinical judgment skills and make safe, effective decisions. The NCLEX includes a variety of question types and case sets that are mapped to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Clinical Judgement Measurement Model.
How many questions are on the NCLEX-RN?
The amount of questions on the NCLEX-RN varies. The exam serves up between 85 to 150 questions and will stop as soon as your competency level has been identified.
How do you pass the NCLEX-RN?
To pass the NCLEX-RN, you have to demonstrate that your level of competency is above the minimum standard. As you answer questions correctly, you'll be given increasingly difficult questions, known as Computer Adaptive Testing. You will need to work your way up in difficulty so the NCLEX-RN algorithm can identify your passing-level competency with 95% confidence. Answering questions correctly will require both nursing content knowledge and critical thinking skills. At Kaplan, we recommend you study for the NCLEX with a mix of content, strategy, and practice.

Is Kaplan NCLEX prep realistic?
Kaplan's NCLEX prep is highly realistic. Our practice questions and Computer Adaptive Tests (CAT) mirrors the actual exam's difficulty, timing, and format. You’ll get to experience the NCLEX’s wide variety of question types so you know what to expect on exam day.
How long does it take to get NCLEX-RN results?
Official results will be sent to you approximately six weeks after taking the NCLEX-RN. Some states offer a paid quick results service which allows you to access your "unofficial" NCLEX-RN results in two business days.
How many times can you take the NCLEX-RN?
Ideally you'll only take the NCLEX-RN one time. However, if necessary you are allowed to retest 45 days after the administration of your previous exam. Candidates are permitted to take the exam up to eight times in a calendar year, depending on the state.
I am eligible for GI Bill® benefits. Is NCLEX prep approved for VA reimbursement ?
