About the Bar Exam
The Hawaii bar exam is a 2-day exam. It takes place on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of February and July. The MEE®, MPT®, and the Hawaii Legal Ethics section take place on Tuesday and the MBE® (Multistate Bar Exam) takes place on Wednesday.

Bar Exam Format
The Hawaii Exam is a two-day exam.
- Day 1: AM: Six Multistate Essay Exam (MEE®) essays and 15 Hawaii Legal Ethics multiple choice questions. PM: Two Multistate Performance Tests (MPT®s).
- Day 2: 200-question, multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam (MBE®).

Grading
The Hawaii Bar Exam will require a minimum scaled combined score of 134 to pass. The MBE® is weighted at 50% of the score, the essays are weighted at 25.7%, the Hawaii Legal Ethics portion is weighted at 4.3%, and the MPT®s are weighted at 20%.

A minimum passing scaled score is 85 or higher.
MPRE® Transfer Policy: The MPRE® score that you are trying to use must be within the last 2 years.

Reciprocity
Hawaii does not have reciprocity with any other states.

Other Requirements
Hawaii requires that you be granted permission to sit for the exam via the Hawaii Supreme Court Bar Application. After passing this preliminary review, you are then eligible to sit for the exam.
