2024-2025 PSAT Test Dates
The PSAT/NMSQT is administered around October/November every year. The PSAT 10 is given to 10th graders in the spring. The PSAT 8/9 is geared to eighth and ninth graders and is offered in March/April and October each year. Find upcoming PSAT test dates below.
When to Take the PSAT in 2024-2025
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Students take this test in the fall, usually during the school day.
The PSAT is often taken as a practice for the SAT or ACT, but it also allows eligible juniors to enter into the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students may take the PSAT as freshman or sophomores, but only junior-year PSAT scores will count toward the National Merit Scholarship Program. Regardless of when you take the PSAT, how you prepare for the PSAT is critical to reaching your goal score.

PSAT Fee Waivers
If you have concerns about being able to afford PSAT registration, speak with your school’s guidance counselor. You may be eligible for a PSAT registration fee waiver, but be aware that fee waivers are only available to juniors taking the exam.
